Spin Meeting January 2010
Happy New Year to you all.
An International group assisted the lecture and demonstration of kimonos at Nadia Azumi’s residence; SPIN President for Va, D.C. ,Md.
Present were members from different countries.
US, Italy, France, Australia, Russia.
The lecture was based on how, where, when and why certain kimonos are used. For different occasions, different seasons. Designs have also meaning. Nadia also shared the Obis or sashes used to hold the kimonos as well as the Uchikakes or Royal Robes.

Dinner was then served and the next meeting was set up for February. Further details will be sent.

Nadia is an Italian born married to a Japanese and worked for UNESCO. After retiring from the UN she decided to go into art. She was influenced by her mother's artistic talents that she acquired in Tuscany when she was young. Nadia worked and studied with Japanese artist for over 30 years.
